2024 Year in Review

2024 Year in Review

Alright. It’s the end of the year. I decided to go back through my catalogue and see what my favourite photos are. I could have done a top 10, but I think it’s more interesting to go month by month. It should allow me to see my growth as a photographer throughout the year.

Conclusion

2024 was a hell of a year. Honestly, it’s hard to even remember everything that happened.

Last year, I gave myself the goal to get better at portraits. Check! I wanted to shoots sports. Check! I wanted to get into printing. Check!

I started an Editor position at The Link (I’m a computer science student this is beyond unexpected). I covered sports for the first time, I did more portraits than I had ever done before. I learned to use flash and studio lighting, I’ve worked on product photos, I shot a fashion show! I shot for Otakuthon, and I went to France for the first time. Hell, I was part of a fundraising gallery!

I’ve learned so much this year and I’m forever grateful for the opportunities that I have had. I’m grateful to the wonderful people that I’ve been working it, at camp, at The Link, in school. I’m grateful to all the models I’ve worked with for their patience as I learn this craft, I cannot thank them enough. Thank you to all the wonderful photographers I’ve had a chance to work with (you know who you are).

What are my goals for next year… I want to get even better at covering sports, I want to shoot a hockey game on film, I want to get more comfortable with on camera flash, I want to make a photo book. I want to get more organized with my shooting. I want to travel more (or at least, travel better). I’d like to get into video, documenting my process. Pipe dream, but I’d like to do a documentary project. And shoot in an official capacity for a festival. And cover more bands (and actually do a good job)!

Let’s see what 2025 has to offer. À la prochaine!
