Heyo!
I’m @shadowlerone! I’m a student photojournalist based in Montreal, and Photo Editor for the 45th and the upcoming 46th volume of The Link Newspaper.
One month ago, to the day, I was violently assaulted by the SPVM while covering the annual march against police brutality. The irony is palpable.
I haven’t had a chance to post my photos from that march yet. I just haven’t had time. I’ve had to focused on myself, make sure my mental health is recovering okay.

I am eternally grateful to all the journalists and photographers who were there documenting what happened. Not everyone is as lucky as I was. Most of you have seen the videos by @thornes_media and @cheicreation.
My experience is not unique. The SPVM has been increasingly targeting journalists covering so-called “radical” movements. They feel entitled to use any and all force against those they perceive as a threat, and are emboldened to do so by an ever-expanding budget and a complete lack of accountability.
